Bowls Around The World Hands-on Cooking Class

There is something so satisfying about having everything you need in a meal all wrapped up in a neat little bowl package. Flavors, colors, and textures, all working together to create something unique and delicious. Let’s tour the bowl world together and take our taste buds to places like Japan and Korea with all those nastalgic flavors we have come to enjoy.
Instructor: Ineke Ojanen, RDN, CD, CDCES
This is a hands-on cooking class where participants will be in groups preparing one of the menu items. You will then get to make a smaller size version of each bowl on the menu to enjoy in class or take home for indulging later. Recipes are included as well as all the instruction you need to recreate these bowls at home. Limited spots available. Sign up soon while tickets last!
Japanese Sushi Bowl: Rice, raw veggies, avocado, mango, spicy mayo, seaweed strips, crunchy tempura topping
Korean BBQ Bowl: Brown rice noodles, raw veggies, sesame garlic mushrooms, gochujang BBQ sauce
Argentinian Chimichurri Bowl: Quinoa, corn, pinto beans, roasted potatoes, pickled red onion, pepitas, pickled red onion, chimichurri sauce
Cold Pad Thai Noodle Bowl: Rice noodles, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, ground peanuts, pad Thai vinaigrette
Menu is gluten free and dairy free
COVID update: As per planned changes in covid guidelines June 30th, masks will be optional as you feel comfortable. There will be a health pre-check sent out prior to the class. If you are sick, please stay home and come hang with us another time. You can give your ticket to someone else to fill your spot. These rules are in compliance with guidance from the Health Dept. Ineke Ojanen, RD, CD, CDCES
Ineke Ojanen, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital in Yakima, WA. She is a CDC Diabetes Prevention Program facilitator. In this role she began to prepare participant’s recipes to help them successfully implement lifestyle changes. For the last three years Ineke has been a Food for Life instructor through VMM’s educational alliance program partnership with Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine. Nothing brings her more joy and excitement when she witnesses cooking class participants taste new foods for the first time and realize that healthy can taste delicious! She has completed additional training Food Forward Culinary Experience by the Humane Society of the U.S. and Rouxbe Culinary Rx. She enjoys volunteering her time helping others teach cooking classes, doing hiking trail work and serves on the Washington Association of Diabetes Educators board as the Awards Committee Chair. In her free time she loves the kitchen as much as the great outdoors and even more her dog.

Elaina Moon is an ACE Certified Health Coach, CDC Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach, and holds a BS in Nutrition and Non-Profit Management from CWU. She is the owner of Healthy Eats and has been teaching cooking classes in Yakima since 2015. She has a passion for helping individuals live a healthy life through nutrition education and health coaching. She teaches two healthy lifestyle classes for Memorial Hospital: ACT! Kids Healthy Lifestyle Program and Diabetes Prevention Program. In addition, she volunteers her time to nutrition-related non-profits including Meals On Wheels.
